General
Packing over sixty years of experience into one tight desktop box, the Universal Audio Apollo Twin MKII boasts incredible AD/DA conversion and a progressive set of preamps, resulting in an ultra-high-end audio interface. Both the converters and preamps have been taken straight out of the UA flagships: the Apollo 8, 8p and 16. Both the Hi-Z and microphone preamps are supported by 'Unison': a sort of virtual channel strip that can be filled with DSP-driven emulations of world-class preamps made by the big names, including Neve, SSL, API, Manley and, of course, Universal Audio.
UAD-Driven Plugins and a Cascade Function
The UAD-2-Duo Core DSP acceleration fosters the perfect marriage between hardware and software, and via the exclusive Unison tech, plugins enable users to record using the sound of vintage preamps, each pulled directly out of the sixties and seventies. Multiple Apollo interfaces can be coupled and cascaded to boost the DSP power and use more effects while tracking and mixing, and to support it all, the Apollo Twin MkII Heritage Edition interface comes bundled up with a stack of authentic plugins: a Teletronix LA-2A, UA 176LN, Pultec EQs and a UA 610-B Tube Preamp.
