The white and grey Yamaha RGXA2 is an exceptionally lightweight electric guitar. At approximately 2.5 kg, it weighs about a third less than a regular guitar, which makes it ideal for those endless live gigs. Even during shorter playing sessions, however, you'll notice the benefits of such a comfortably lightweight instrument. Despite weighing next to nothing, the Yamaha RGXA2 produces a sound to be reckoned with; its well-resonating body ensures a spacious, open tone.

The lightweight body of the RGXA2

The RGXA2 is a great example of Yamaha's A.I.R body concept, which means this electric guitar actually has a solid body that consists of a lightweight wooden core surrounded by two layers of hardwood. To enhance resonance, three sound tubes were mounted underneath the bridge: metal tubes that run towards the back of the guitar to make sure the sound is effectively transferred to the instrument's body. The RGXA2 owes its warm yet clear, vintage sound to two Alnico V humbucker pickups.

Tasteful simplicity

To complement its lightweight body and light finish, Yamaha fitted this durable guitar with a light, high-grade bridge, reducing protruding screws to a minimum so there's more room for your right hand. The instrument itself has a stylish, minimalistic look, featuring a fretboard without position markers and only two controls: a volume knob and a 3-way pickup selector knob. The LEDs around the volume knob tell you which pickup has been selected. We hate to state the obvious, but with the stunning RGXA2, Yamaha has issued yet another unique, reliable instrument.
