This 14 x 6-inch snare drum is part of Tama's popular Sound Lab Project series. It has a 10mm-thick shell made of 12 plies of bubinga with the outer ply being quilted bubinga, giving it a punchy sound with an excellent low end. Furthermore, the combination of the 2.3mm flanged hoops and the lightweight lugs allows the bubinga shell to resonate freely, optimising the tone. This snare drum is excellently suited for styles such as pop, rock, country and R&B, so it's a real all-rounder.

Ik wist niet goed waar ik moest zoeken tot ik Joost Kroon deze Tama SLP-G bubinga hoorde bespelen bij RTL late night. Ik was op slag verliefd. Echt een geluid waar je alle stijlen op los kunt laten. Handig als je in een allround coverband speelt.
STEMMEN
Ik heb m uit de doos zo het podium opgesleept en vlug een beetje omhoog gestemd. Echter, niet tevreden. Ik ben ook al geen whizzkid op stemgebied en heb hiervoor dan ook speciaal een tune bot aangeschaft. Ik vond het erg lastig om het geluid wat ik zocht uit deze snare te halen. Inmiddels ben ik er wel achter dat het bereik van deze snare enorm is. Erg hoog of juist erg laag, het blijft een snare met indrukwekkende 'body'. Nog steeds speel ik op het meegeleverde vel, maar heb wel de snarenmat vervangen voor een puresound. Scheelt enorm in de definitie van de Ghostnotes.
De productomschrijving zet de snare neer als echte allrounder en dat kan ik alleen maar be-amen. Met mijn bandje speel ik van Jan Smit tot AC/DC en alles wat er nog tussen zit. Hier een voorbeeldje dus met Puresound matje erop: http://youtu.be/suHRRrW0Lr4
