Taking its name from the Pink Floyd classic, Interstellar Overdrive, the Ashdown Interstellar-600 Signature bass amp head bears the seal of approval from the current Floyd bassist himself. Guy Pratt joined the band in the eighties and later became the main bassist for the solo project of guitar-guru David Gilmore, and part of the line-up for drummer, Nick Mason's The Saucer Full of Secrets. Pratt is also an acclaimed session bassist, having lent his lines to the work of giants like Bryan Ferry, Icehouse, and even Madonna and Michael Jackson. So, in the tight shape of the Ashdown Interstellar-600, you're getting the full package: high-grade specs and superb, Pratt-worthy sound.

The Ashdown Interstellar-600: Louder Than Words

Since the bass-master was more than happy with the tops he's used as the core of his rigs for years already, the two clear UV meters planted on the front control panel as well as some other details of the Interstellar-600 have been taken from the ABM-900 amp. As such, this head has a throwback, sixties look as well as some sweet signature perks. Of course, it'll happily team up with an Ashdown CL-310 speaker cabinet, but can also be linked up to an other matching 600 Watt (4 Ohm) cabinet to outstanding effect. And, if you're the lucky owner of the same Taurus pedal as Pratt, you're provided with a dedicated Taurus input around the back.

More Than Enough

Since Guy Pratt can't be seen without a small army of bass stompboxes, his Ashdown signature features a mono effects loop, and to accommodate both versions of his Jazz Bass, Betsy, the input can be switched from active to passive as needed. Besides a three-band EQ section and separate volume pots for the output and input, six extra frequency faders have been lined up to grant in-depth control over the bass sound, and for ease, the entire section can be switched on or off, or placed before or after the XR DI output. Couple the Interstellar-600 up with the FS-4 footswitch (not included) to gain access to custom compression and a sub harmonic generator to expand the potential of this powerful head, and to finish, bassists are offered the pick of a line output or a full-range output, giving them more than enough to play with.
