General
The Randall 667 is a versatile 120-watt tube guitar amplifier head with six channels, six modes and seven programmable MIDI functions per channel. It's equipped with no fewer than nine 12AX7 tubes in the preamplifier and four 6L6 tubes in the power amp. Randall is a well-known name when it comes to metal music but because of this amp head's versatility it's suitable for other styles of music too.
Randall 667
The Randall 667's six channels are divided into three groups that each have a specific voicing. Channels 1 and 2 offer an American '60s-style sound, while channels 3 and 4 give you thick rock sounds with a prominent midrange that's more reminiscent of the '70s and '80s. You'll find a more modern sound with plenty of gain and sparkle on channels 5 and 6. There are also three voice controls on the 667 that give you scooped mids (L), extra mids (M) and more gain (H). You can further customise your tone using the boost and bright switches.
MIDI functionality
If you perform regularly, then you're sure to appreciate the comprehensive MIDI functionality on the 667. The seven programmable MIDI functions per channel consist of channel select, boost, low/medium/high gain voicing, master volume 1/2 select, loop/loop 2 select, store and individual bias controls. By using a separately available footswitch like the RF8 you'll be able to effortlessly switch between channels.
