The Bose L1 system is available in various configurations and, depending on your needs, you can choose between two different bass modules. Right now, you're looking at the Bose B2 Bass Module: a passive subwoofer designed to be used in combination with a Model I or Model II PA. Inside its aluminium and ABS housing, two 10-inch woofers have been fitted that deliver highly natural bass frequencies to complete the mids and trebles produced by an L1 speaker column. Included with the B2 are a protective cover, 4-pin speaker cable and four self-adhesive rubber feet.
The B2 Bass Module: The Possibilities
The power of the Bose L1 system lies in the level of flexibility offered to configure its set-up. Depending on the size of your gig and the sound source in need of amplification, you can pick out the components that you actually need. This B2 Bass Module can be seamlessly incorporated into any set-up and can be placed both vertically and horizontally and, if case of slippery surfaces, can be equipped with the included rubber feet. For truly imposing bass, you could even stack two Bose B2 modules, although such a set-up will require the Bose A1 PackLite Amplifier (sold separately).
Optimal Bass Control
To help you dial in the perfect bass sound, the Bose B2 features a Bass Level switch on the back that's compatible with the Model II system (from firmware v1.4 and up) and offers three modes: Normal, Plus and Minus. The Normal mode is great for bass guitars and the live amplification of bass drum mics while the Plus mode works well with DJ applications and music playback since the bass response receives a boost as soon as this mode kicks in. For acoustic guitars and vocals, you'll want to opt for the Minus mode as it assists in delivering optimal clarity and transparency.
