The Casio AP-260BK is a black digital piano from the Celviano series. It features the same sounds, keyboard and functionality as the Privia PX-760, but has a sturdier look - ideal if you want a design that resembles an acoustic piano. As the Celviano AP-260-BK is equipped with an AiR sound generator, a convincing piano sound is ensured. The piano's Damper Resonance feature only adds to that effect, as do the natural feel and response of the keys. With their ebony and ivory-type texture and characteristic hammer response, they complete the authentic piano experience. Three pedals and a stand are included.

AP-260BK: instruments, effects and additional features

A digital piano is always judged by the extent to which it manages to imitate a real acoustic piano. The AP-260 does so to great effect, but also offers a number of other instruments to choose from. Besides five grand piano models, you get four electric pianos, a harpsichord, a vibraphone, four organs, two string sections and a bass. You can even add a rich and spacious quality to your performance by means of the piano's reverb and chorus effects. Additional practical features include a metronome, a MIDI recorder and a selection of built-in songs, which you can learn to play with the help of the included sheet music and the option to switch the left or right-hand part off. Connect your computer to the digital piano's USB port, and you're even capable of exchanging note information.

Sound and playing experience

To precisely register the force of your key strokes, the PX-260BK is equipped with a tri-sensor mechanism. Quick repeats are accurately reproduced, and this Casio is even capable of simulating the tiny differences in timing that occur due to different playing styles and keys. The lower keys feel much heavier than the higher ones, just like those of a real grand piano. To make the sound really authentic, factors like attack, sustain and decay have been taken into account, and you can clearly hear the difference in timbre between softly played passages and more vehement parts. Damper Resonance, finally, convincingly mimics the rich resonance you hear when you press down a sustain pedal.
