In place of a finish so high-gloss you can see your face in it, this model has a more subtle matt finish across the body and matching head. In place of the usually black-topped insert, the mounted pick-ups come with red inserts while the body is slightly slimmer than most Gretsch archtops, meaning higher-playing comfort and an instrument you can throw around a bit.

The two Black Top (but red) Filter’Trons mounted on this Electromatic shape a robust yet warm double-wound foundation sound that gives just a touch more punch than most regular humbuckers. Play around with the configuration using the 3-way pickup switch and control pots and you start to uncover the sheer spectrum of potential tones this Rat Rod hollowbody is capable of. And, since this is a certified Gretsch, you can throw in vibrato at will with the tried and true Bigsby B60 tailpiece.
