Taylor Doyle Dykes DDSM Signature 178 of 200 Black 2011 (Pre-owned)

General

With this Taylor Doyle Dykes DDSM Signature, you’re bringing home a truly special second-hand guitar: this 2011 model is number 178 in a series of 200. This six-string Grand Auditorium combines a black finish with a Sitka spruce top and a maple back and sides. Beneath the top lies scalloped X-bracing, whilst the Florentine cutaway provides access to the higher frets. It is a fully-featured electro-acoustic guitar, fitted with an L.R. Baggs system for amplified playing. It also comes with a Taylor hard-shell case, so you’ll have a suitable place to store the instrument.

Maple neck and ebony fingerboard

Maple is also used for the neck: Taylor has opted for hard rock maple here. The ebony fingerboard features staggered mother-of-pearl position markers, which give this signature model a distinctive look. The scale length is 24 7/8 inches and the neck width at the nut is 1 3/4 inches. This gives you an immediate overview of the key dimensions affecting playability. Both the nut and the saddle are made from Tusq; the bridge is crafted from ebony. The Florentine cutaway, with its distinctive shape, complements the design beautifully and gives your fretting hand extra space in the higher fret positions.

Black finish with refined details

The black colour provides the backdrop for a number of striking details. For instance, the body features an Ivoroid binding and an abalone inlay runs along the top. The soundhole rosette is also crafted from abalone, meaning this decorative motif is repeated in various places. The headstock features gold-plated Grover tuning machines with ebonoid knobs: a combination that complements the rest of the finish beautifully. For amplified playing, the guitar features the built-in L.R. Baggs system, whilst the included Taylor hard-shell case comes in handy for storage and transport. With its numbered edition, signature model and combination of materials, this second-hand DDSM is a standout piece in any guitar collection.
