A lightweight basswood body is bolted on to a three-piece maple and walnut neck for this RG electric guitar. A rosewood fretboard completes the combination of woods used. The result is clear and balanced acoustics with a touch of growl added to the mid range.

The RGIR28BFE has a stable Gibraltar Standard II-8 bridge that gives all eight strings extra tuning stability and sustain. This Iron Label guitar also features two EMG active humbuckers. The bridge and neck position are both fitted with 808 double-coil pickups. These ceramic humbuckers make it possible to produce consistent and tight rock and metal sounds. For modern stutter-type sounds the Ibanez Iron Label also has a special Kill Switch.
