Coverup Desktop Stand for Allen & Heath K2
Not a product to get excited about, but one with a definite function if you need your K2s at mixer height. Since moving to using K2s with Traktor, I was using the Xone case that they come with. It’s not great for lifting them up. It simply slides around too much and leaves too much gap to the mixer. So these looked like a more elegant solution.
Firstly, the good. They are perfectly sized to fit under the K2, well made, and are quite sturdy. They are a little higher than needed for my use case (A&H PX5 mixer), but are solid. On this basis, I much prefer them to the Xone case.
Unfortunately, there’s quite a few negatives.
1) the image shows them with the Xone logo - this is not on them. It is a Coverup logo. Presumably due to copyright and using the A&H Xone mark, but still. Not good to have them different.
2) The dowel wood connector does not fit tightly into the end plates. There is a little play. When the K2 is in place, the feet sort of hold the whole thing together, but the design should be such that the dowels are a better, tighter fit.
3) I bought two of these, and one pack was missing the self-adhesive rubber feet that are essential to stop it sliding around.
Ultimately, this is a 3D printed product. Given the criticisms above, these flaws make it expensive, and not a good value. Unfortunately there is little alternative.
