The Fender American Ultra Jazz Bass V: A 5-string bass that combines enhanced vintage sound and as-fresh-as-they-come upgrades. This bass is part of the Ultra Series and is a more than worthy successor to the former Elite and Deluxe models from Fender's California-based factory. While this bass has inherited the comfortable neck-width of a standard Fender 5-string Jazz, the neck of the Ultra has been gifted with a modern D-profile and softly rounded edges to heighten playing comfort even further.

The fretboard radius of this Fender bass ranges from 10-inches to a slightly flatter 14-inches and maintains tight control over rumbling lines at the lower end, while ensuring a seamless transition to more defined, melodic adventures at the higher half of the neck. This enhanced 5-String Ultra Jazz Bass is then amplified by two specially designed Noiseless pickups that retain that familiar and inspiring core sound of single-coils, without any of the annoying buzz and grumble typical of previous generations.

While the pair of Noiseless single-coils offer a wide selection of tonal flavour alone, Fender have built in an extra surprise in the form of a mini-switch that flips the electronics of this J-bass from that trusted, passive vintage purr to a contemporary, preamplified growl with 3-band EQ, doubling the range of this bass. Other upgrades include a HiMass, toploader bridge and bone nut for optimum sound transmission and unerring tuning stability. This stability is strengthened by the vintage-looking but tighter-gripping tuners, that have been fitted with improved, tapered shafts for smooth and fast response when making adjustments.
