General
The Pa4X is Korg's flagship model, a high-quality workstation with enough possibilities to keep you entertained for years to come. The Korg Pa4X Oriental 61 arranger workstation is a variation to that series that comes loaded with sounds and styles inspired by the Middle East. As such, it's mostly aimed at media composers who'd like to add an oriental touch to their music. It's also very easy to operate thanks to its 7" colour display, and the large number of built-in samples guarantee top-quality sound.
Korg Pa4X Oriental 61: features
Compared to Korg's earlier workstations, this one has over ten times as many sounds. Add that to the 400 MBs it has for your own custom sounds, and you'll have enough room to let your musical creativity run wild. Of course there are also countless different styles available, with rich fills and variations. You can also create your own styles by importing MIDI files and converting them. Finally, there are sound engines for guitars and organs, with the latter allowing you to use the sliders on the left side of the control panel as drawbars.
Additional options
It’s impossible to list all of the Korg Pa4X’s many features in a single paragraph, but we would like to point out a few highlights. MP3 and MIDI files can be easily played back. It’s even possible to play back two files simultaneously, in which case a crossfader determines the balance between the two. In addition to a collection of great sounds and the option to import your own samples - which basically makes this a timeless instrument - you get a number of fantastic effects. Renowned names like TC-Helicon and Waves should tell you all you need to know. Accompany your own singing, for instance, while the Pa4X creates a nice vocal harmony and enhances your intonation. In the meantime, allow Waves to take charge of mastering - it’ll add a professional touch to your performance.
