After the first Komplete Kontrol keyboards were launched by Native Instruments, the world was introduced to a whole new way of music production. Apart from the elegant controllers, the coloured LEDs above the keys made these units incredibly popular in no time. The lights match the colour codes in Kontakt's software, allowing you to see exactly where your key switches are at any given time. What's New?

Put simply, the MK2 is better and more extensive. It comes with sustain and expression pedal inputs as standard, plus USB MIDI and DIN MIDI ports. In addition, the S49 MK2 features a pair of colour displays for intuitive plugin control and, using the NKS protocol, you're assured of seamless integration between software and hardware. Polishing things off the right way, Native Instruments have even equipped this upgraded keyboard with FATAR keys.

While the first-gen Komplete Kontrol featured pitch and modulation touch strips, the MK2 has been kitted out with a set of tried-and-trusted expression wheels and an extra touch strip, while additional controls grant access to the transport section of your production software as well as scenes and patterns in MASCHINE. A unique rotary knob has also been planted to the right of the keys; more like a mini joystick, this neat and tactile controller combines the function of a push encoder with a cursor mechanism. In short, the Komplete Kontrol MK2 has been re-vamped and polished up to provide the most extensive production tool on the planet.
