General
Arturia has developed the Keylab 88 for musicians who want to use the full potential of their MIDI keyboard. As such, the Keylab 88 has all the functions and features you could wish for. Its 88-key keyboard - made by the renowned Fatar - is not only just as wide as that of a piano, but feels just like one too, thanks to its piano-style hammer action keys. The velocity-sensitive keys have aftertouch as well, which means you can influence the sound by applying varied pressure to a key after you have struck it. Thanks to an attractive housing with wooden side panels, the Keylab is just as easy on the eye as it is on the ear.
Keylab 88: a comprehensive controller
The Keylab88 is much more than just a piano-size keyboard. It is equipped with an extensive selection of controllers that you can use to operate the functions of your DAW software. Adjust the volume of your tracks with the nine sliders, for instance, or alter filter settings using the many knobs. The keyboard also features a number of assignable buttons, including practical transport controls, which enable you to start a recording. You’ll hardly be using your computer keyboard and mouse anymore!
Pads, pedals and stands
To create rhythms and to trigger effects and loops, the Keylab 88 offers sixteen high-grade pads that are both velocity and pressure-sensitive. Pitch bend and modulation wheels are present to help you with your musical escapades, and you can also plug an optional sustain pedal, expression pedal or foot switch into the pedal inputs of the keyboard to help you trigger various functions. To make life even easier for you, Arturia has fitted the Keylab 88 with a rugged stand for your iPad or sheet music, and there’s also room for your laptop on top of the keyboard.
Analog Lab
The Keylab 88 is compatible with any kind of DAW. Just so you can instantly make the most of the MIDI keyboard, Arturia has included the excellent Analog Lab. This software, which can be used as a stand-alone or as a VST/RTAS/AU plug-in, offers a plethora of synth sounds. More than 5,000 emulations of classic sounds are at your disposal. You can even tweak them minutely, apply effects and stack them. Naturally, the Arturia Keylab is perfectly compatible with Analog Lab, which means accessing presets, changing settings and triggering sounds is a piece of cake.
