General

The SUB22AB-M surdo is based on surdo drums from the North-East of Brazil. The Bahia region is known for its surdo drums with a shallower shell. Meinl has given the SUB22AB-M a shell depth of 18 inches. The percussion head, made of synthetic material, has a diameter of 22 inches and features the Meinl logo. The sound of the surdo is warm thanks to the hardwood used. No fewer than 6 layers of wood ensure a solid and robust shell. The SUB22AB-M is finished in the dark brown colour African Brown. This traditional-looking surdo is excellent for Cuban/Jamaican music styles and, of course, the well-known samba.

Meinl SUB22AB-M: lots of freedom of movement

Despite its shallower shell, the sound of the Bahia surdo is full and warm. Thanks to the kettle size, these surdos can be carried lower, giving you more freedom of movement as a player. All tensioning bolts are fully recessed into the tensioning rim. With the SUB22AB-M, you set the rhythm of samba music. Supplied with tuning spanner.
