General
A surdo is considered the heartbeat of the samba band. With the SU18-L, Meinl delivers a traditional-looking surdo equipped with legs. The sturdy aluminium shell is lightweight and ensures good sound projection. The batter has an 18-inch diameter and is slightly damped. This ensures a full but not overpowering deep sound. Thanks to the included legs, this surdo is excellent for use on stage. You can also integrate the surdo's deep sound into your drum kit and use it as an extra deep floortom.
Meinl SU18-L: heartbeat of the band
This SU18-L features fully recessed tension bolts and comes complete with tuning spanner. You can specify the heartbeat of samba music using large samba beaters. In a samba band, various sizes of surdos are used. The largest drum is called the reposta, the middle one the marcador and the smallest surdo the contrador. This contrador is excellent for the faster passages in samba music. A deep-sounding surdo suitable for multiple applications.
