More than a year following the release of version 11, Steinberg drop Cubase Pro 12. As always, this potent DAW is the undisputed industry standard for entry-level, as well as professional producers. A few changes have been made during the last twelve months, including native support for Apple Silicon, and more importantly, the removal of that eLicenser dongle, which to the relief of many users has finally been replaced with a more streamlined, software-based solution.
What's New with Cubase 12?
Since most producers work in stereo, mixes can now be completed in Dolby Atmos - all in-the-box, while a few of the perks that come with Steinberg's other package, Nuendo, have also been thrown in with Cubase 12. So if you need to copy over a song but you're not certain of the chord structure, Cubase 12 is now able to simply extract the chord from the original audio for you - that's slick service. Naturally, a stack of other tweaks, enhancements, and additions come included (some of which can be found neatly listed in the specifications below), all of which add immense value to a package that simply streamlines the writing, producing, and mixing process like no other.
