Cubase still sits comfortably at the zenith of the audio production mountain and, since you can get it in three different flavours, there's literally a version for everybody. Sandwiched between the compact and clean Elements edition and the extensive and extreme Pro edition, we have the inbetweener: Cubase Artist 13. This edition takes a hefty step up from Elements but has had a few bites taken out of it when compared to the Pro edition. So, is it missing anything? Probably not. Which is why Cubase Artist is so popular among musicians and producers at every level. This is essentially a high-end audio tool that can be yours for a more-than reasonable price.
What's New with Cubase Artist 13?
To improve the workflow even more, there's no longer any need to switch between the arranger and mixer windows. Instead, a new Channel Tab has been added: a small strip on the left where you can quickly tweak the levels and sends without having to click away. Vocal and speech recording is now lent the help of a new Vocal Chain: a complete effects suite specifically set up for treating the human voice, including a de-esser, equaliser, compressor, saturator, delay and a whole truckload more. With the new Vocoder, Steinberg also welcome robot voices into the fold, and even the Sampler Track has been updated with a Spectral Warp, making things even more extreme with some fresh sonic options.
Iconica Sketch
Iconica Sketch is definitely one of the standout additions to Cubase 13. This virtual instrument has been pre-loaded with a bank of thirty-four orchestral sounds, each with various articulations and each amounting to 5 gigabytes of material, basically meaning that any producer that's starting out with nothing can immediately play around with some blasting orchestral sounds.
