General
Every once in a while, a legend returns to the music industry and today marks one of those days. This is not an over-sized, modular wall, not a huge keyboard with hundreds of buttons but a tiny device never meant to reach a legendary status but did so anyway. Meet the affordable reincarnation of the old Roland TB-303: The Behringer TD-3.
A Legend Reincarnated
The surge of EDM in the '90s warped the 303 to unprecedented levels of popularity and revealed the 303 is, at its core, a rather straightforward device. This TD-3 similarly features an oscillator, a filter and step sequencer at its core. The filter in the TD-3 is slightly different from the original one and is now a 24 dB filter instead of an 18 dB variant. Fortunately, most sound designers know just how to tweak the sound in such a way that a mere 6 dB difference remains barely noticeable. Instead, use the TD-3 to create freaky bass loops with a vocal filter, groovy accents, overdrive and the most human-like slides because that's what it's about!
What's More...
Aside from its vintage roots, the TD-3 is obviously a modern device with MIDI In/Out/Thru as well as an USB-MIDI connector fitted on the back and there are several CV connectors so you can use the TD-3 as an interface for your Eurorack gear. The controls resemble the classic 303 but with the added advantage of a distortion unit. The Behringer TD-3 may be small but it can unlock unlimited potential!

De synth klinkt heel erg goed. De distortion maakt het geluid echt compleet. Je kunt er hele vette acid mee maken. Ded sequencer moet je even door krijgen maar werkt gewoon goed. Echt een fantastisch apparaat.

Mijn ervaring met de Behringer TD-3 was dat de sequencer niet startte, wat ik ook deed. Het is me ook niet duidelijk bij wie dat dan ligt en of de TD-3 in deze staat de Behri fabriek uitkomt., Het voellde enigszins verontrustend en de neiging om terug te sturen was groot. Maar blijkbaar ben ik niet de enige, je moet dan een softwarematig factoryreset uitvoeren, Behri blijft daar uiterst vaag over, de software bied uitkomst.,
Voor €80, nee geen b-stock, krijg je een prettig klinkende fantastische bassliner met een paar kleine tekortkomingen. De popmeters lopen wat zwaar en het en hoog lijkt iets achter te blijven maar verder wel de bekende aciid tjielps en ronkende basslines.
Gekocht samen met de TD-6, 606 drumcomputer en de mogelijkheid om ze te syncen! maakt er een fijn setje van, YouTube bied hier de oplossing want de manual schiet te kort.
Als laatste “voor 23.00 besteld de volgende dag binnen” kon Bax niet waarmaken en bleef beweren dat hij opgestuurd was terwijl post.nl aangaf nog niet ontvangen. Maandag besteld was dus donderdag in huis.Verbeterpuntje, vertraging kan altijd gebeuren maar communiceer hierover met de klant.

Heb ooit een 303 gehad en wilde er toch wel weer eentje hebben maar ga geen 1500+ betalen voor een toch wel beperkt 2ehandsje van 40jr oud en wilde de gok wel wagen met deze TD3 voor €122. Ben niet echt een Behringer fan maar deze is wel geslaagd hoor, het is echt wel een 303, klinkt echt beter dan de gemiddelde kloon en niemand zal horen dat het geen echte is. Aan een kant wel jammer dat de sequencer net zo kut is als het origineel maar dat hoort er wel bij. Al met al leuk ding, de ingeb. distortion is ook niet verkeerd.

The TD-3 is an excellent clone of the 303 synth that generated a whole new genre of acid house music in the late 80s and early 90s. The TD-3 includes an analogue synth oscillator, analogue filter and added distortion circuits. These are combined with authentic sequencer with pitch slides and accents to allow creation of superb squelchy bass and bass line sound straight out of the box with lots of dynamic control.
I can confirm that this integrates very well with a modular synth system. The TD-3 can control CV pitch and gate of external systems and the pitch CV includes the sequenced note slides. Any external gear can then have the audio feed fed back into the TD-3 filter/distortion stages yielding great versatility. Was able to sync with external Ableton Keystep keyboard via CV sync so that drums and external sequences aligned with the TD-3 pattern timing.
Really pleased with this purchase. Hours and hours of fun whether as a standalone bass synth or integrating with existing synth systems.
Behringer, thank you for bringing forwards a designed clone of this legacy hardware and making available to a wider audience of new musicians.

Super goede kopie van de tb 303. Sound en bediening is echt boven verwachting en waarschijnlijk is het gebruiksgemak velen malen beter dan het origineel. Random patterns aanmaken en aanpassen is super en de distortion klinkt zeer goed. 5 sterren minstens, helemaal voor dit geld!

Everybody needs a 303 ! :)
Super baseline.
A première vue, le produit semble "plasticky" et léger. En réalité, il offre de très grandes possibilités.
L'interface software est super pratique et est une évolution à l'ancienne 303.
Les CV, gate out et particulièrement le sync-in permettent des applications semi modulaires avec, par exemple, un behringer crave.
Les baselines peuvent avoir une tonalité acid mais également expérimentale de type semi modulaire.
A recommander pour les longues soirées d'hiver... mais pas que ;-)

I really love the TD-3. Ive been playing around with it recreating some well known 303 tracks like Give Me a Signal and Happy Answer and it sounds exactly like a brand new 303. I really love the feel and way how you write a sequence on it which is faithful to the original 303. One thing I really like is the midi feature where you could basically have a 303 piano which is amazing if you want a proper acid lead onto your tracks. In conclusion, its the best thing I have ever brought and it worths every single pence in your pocket. Behringer, thank you for making this.
