Behringer does it again: taking one of the old, sagely legends of the synth-universe and breathing fresh, new life into its analogue lungs. This time around, we're spoilt with a devoted love-note to the ARP 2600. This 40 year-old wall of sliders and patch gates has been tweaked and manipulated by music and sound-design legends throughout the ages, and while Behringer aren't the first to wake and remake this sleeping giant, this rendition is far from literal, bearing aesthetic and functional features of its own. One of the most striking of these features is the LED sliders and the sensitive layout adjustments when compared with the original ARP, but the first thing that hits you is that this meaty chunk of synth potency comes in a considerate 19" rack format.
The Behringer 2600
The semi-modular character of this synth means you get a sweet stack of sections and a more than generous bunch of patch gates can be manipulated to transform the architecture beyond all recognition, and that's even before you touch any one of the army of sliders provided to shape the result. As a whole, the modules on offer can be compared to those of a standard synthesizer: three oscillators, a filter (two models), envelopes, noise generators and more, and by patching up the oscillators, you can pull fun tricks like FM synthesis from the wizard's sleeve that is the Behringer 2600.
Other Charming Characteristics
In terms of more modern twsits, the old-school spring reverb that came built-into the original has been replaced with digital reverb. MIDI (DIN and USB) is supported, so this version of the 2600 can be integrated with any modern studio setup with ease - maybe even added to a giant bank of Behringer-made synths. In fact, you might even add a couple of them to your collection, since these kinds of ARP 2600 remakes usually come at an antique-grade premium, but this synth has been made by Behringer, and since it's become Behringer's sole purpose on Earth to provide nothing but attainable sonic synthesis - the price is as good as it gets.

Sinds 1971 is de architectuur van de 2600 een van de beste om klanken te vormen en weer te geven.
Behringer heeft met deze moderne remake prachtig werk geleverd , de klanken die je hiermee maakt zijn verbluffend knap.
Als je eenmaal de werkwijze doorhebt maak je zowat elke klank , de toevoeging van USB & Midi breidt je mogelijkheden verder uit. Voor deze prijs vind je niets beters , je moet echter wel gemotiveerd zijn om een semi modulair systeem te leren bewerken,
Indien niet blijf dan bij je preset machine .

Behringer 2600 synthesizer
Ook vorige week via de nieuwsbrief gezien dat er een flinke prijsdaling was en toegehapt.
Voordat bedrag kon ik het niet laten staan :).
Eind jaren zeventig een formant gebouwd uit het toenmalige blad elektuur en heel veel parallellen.
In nog geen avondje had ik de bediening onder de knie. In de formant tijd had ik ook het patchbook van de ARP 2600 gekocht, toen kostte dit boek nog 80 Hfl , nu is het gratis te downloaden.
Het correct aansturen met MIDI via een Roland Workstation kosten mij wel meerdere avonden. Pas na een firmware upgrade via het programma synthtribe naar V1.01 waren de problemen voorbij. Later vond ik deze informatie ook wel op diverse forums maar het had handig geweest dat het op de BAX site was vermeld. Ook de informatie in de bijgeleverde Quick start Guide is zeers summier met name het gebeuren rond duofoon gebruik. Dus nog even verder puzzelen maar voor dit geld is het een uitstekend apparaat.

Behringer 2600 synthesizer
Ik was al heel lang aan het watertanden om deze 2600 in huis te halen maar mijn budget liet het niet toe. Toen ik hem eventjes zag verschijnen met een fikse korting (dank u Bax) heb ik meteen toegehapt en daar nog geen spijt van gekregen. Ik vreesde wel een beetje dat het wat dubbel gebruik zou zijn met de andere Behringer monosynths die ik al had maar nee hoor. De 2600 is echt een wereld op zich. Hij heeft een vrij steile leercurve en je bent verplicht om goed na te denken en te onthouden hoe je bepaalde klanken kan bekomen. Je moet dat ook allemaal onthouden want een patchgeheugen is er niet. Door al dat nadenken heb ik veel bijgeleerd over synthese wat dan weer bruikbaar is bij mijn andere synths. Het zal zeker een blijver zijn in de studio.
De ingebouwde reverb ben ik niet zo over te spreken maar met enkele goede effectpedalen in huis is dat geen probleem. De Cloudburst, Bigsky en OceanMachine kunnen dat allemaal aan.

Behringer 2600 synthesizer
Ik ben erg tevreden met de Behringer 2600. Zo erg zelfs dat ik een tweede exemplaar heb aangeschaft om ze tegelijk te kunnen gebruiken. Geluid is goed, tuning is stabiel en het is een leuke synth om mee te spelen. Je kan er van alles en nog wat aan geluiden uitkrijgen. Ik heb deze met een digitale reverb en een met de mechanische spring reverb. En ik vind de digitale reverb eigenlijk wel beter klinken. Al maakt het niet heel veel uit omdat ik hem meestal zonder reverb op neem. En dat later in m'n DAW toevoeg. Als je toch de onboard reverb wil gebruiken let er dan op dat je de outputs van de 2600 ook daadwerkelijk naar link en rechts draait op je mixer. Anders komt het niet tot z'n recht.
Pluspunten:
Goed geluid.
Stabiele tuning.
Groot en daar door makkelijk te bedienen.
Helderheid van de LEDjes is in te stellen en kunnen helemaal gedoofd worden.
Minpunten:
Geen CV over de resonantie. *
Geen octaaf switch knopjes voor de oscillatoren. *
Geen patchkabels bij geleverd.
Neemt veel plek in.
* Hebben een originele ARP2600 ook niet. Maar het zou wat mij betreft een welkome toevoeging geweest zijn.

Een fantastisch apparaat dat de mogelijkheden van de modulaire synthesizer binnen handbereik brengt, maar ook werkt zonder breiwerk aan patchkabels. De werking van het apparaat vergt kennis van de bediening van een synthesizer in het algemeen, en de opbouw van dit apparaat in het bijzonder. Ik heb veel tijd moeten besteden om er iets reproduceerbaars uit te halen en lang getwijfeld of ik het misschien moest opgeven en het apparaat retourneren. Maar als de wereld van de modulaire synth eenmaal opengaat, gaan er veel late uurtjes in zitten die klassieke soundjes opleveren. Inderdaad een fantastisch apparaat.

I'm really excited to now own a 2600. This Behringer "clone" is brilliant and has plenty of advantages over an original, not least of which is the price and the fact it has MIDI! There's a learning curve, especially if you have little or no experience of modular synths (I have one other semi-modular) but it's the type of learning curve that's *fun*! I've probably barely scratched the surface of what this machine can do but I'm having a great time finding out. Buying from Bax was really easy too and my purchase was delivered really quickly. Happy customer.

First time buying from Bax-Shop. Must say a very good experience. Since in the UK I wanted to check that I would be getting the correct wall-plug fittings. A quick e-mail to the store assured my I would. Bought the 2600 with the set of patch cables and the innox stand (cheap but adequate - with space to fit an effects unit too). I had been thinking about getting this for a long time, since its release and very happy with the purchase. I have it hooked up to a DSI Pro-2 and both work together very well (even duophonic sequences via midi). Although I am used to keyboard synths, the 2600 is pretty easy to work out (some great tutorials on youtube) and sounds fantastic - great product and amazing value.

A stepping stone to modular!
The (B)ARP-2600 is a semi-modular synth, but it is laid out with a "modular" design whereby any "module" can be patched to any another - overriding the internal circuitry. I intend to use this as a starting point for going into Eurorack - this is cost effective as it removes the need to buy numerous elementary or normally required Eurorack modules. It is a deep synth, but it has the potential to become abyssal with the addition of Eurorack modules, and other semi-modular synths :)
NB: the Blue Marvin and Grey Meanie versions I hear are the same but with a spring reverb as opposed to a digital reverb.

Na c.a. 10 weken na bestelling de 2600 ontvangen. Gelijk toen ze op voorraad stonden op de site werd de volgende dag de 2600 bezorgd. Helaas waren de siliconen korrels in het apparaat terecht gekomen. (zakje gescheurd)....gewoon domme pech niemand direct aan te rekenen. Door de helpdesk uitstekend behandeld. De volgende dag kon ik een nieuwe ophalen (mijn eigen wens om op te halen).
Kan niet anders zeggen ... de service was TOP....wederom.
Over de 2600 zelf.... Als beginnend liefhebber is het even puzzelen en youtube's bekijken om hem goed gestemd aan de praat te krijgen. Maar perfect om mijn analog skills op te vijzelen. In combinatie met de Behringer Odyssey hele vette sounds.. maar ook standalone bizarre soundscapes...
Ik ben zeer happy ;-)
