General
The Meinl CAX2 is a medium size caxixi that can be used by itself, or in combination with a berimbau, for instance. This percussion instrument is often used in West Africa and South America, especially in Brazil, where it is widely used in capoeira music. The CAX2 is made of rattan strands, with a bottom made of coconut. Rattan is a vine-like wood type that comes from rattan palms in subtropic regions. When you shake your caxixi, it will produce a high-pitched rattling sound reminiscent of maracas, making it an excellent instrument to use in keeping time.
