The Mackie Reach has a number of interesting features which make it the ultimate all-in-one solution when it comes to PA systems. Music can be streamed via Bluetooth, while the entire system can be controlled wirelessly using a downloadable app. The Reach has a built-in 6-channel mixer and 16 effects suitable for vocals and instruments. The system also features an efficient, built-in personal monitoring system called EarShot. This enables musicians or speakers to hear themselves properly during performances.
Reach: innovative ARC system
Featuring the innovative ARC (Amplified Radial Curve) system, the Reach's sound covers 150 degrees. That's 50% more than other PA systems! It does this by using three horizontally angled high-frequency compression drivers that work together with two vertically angled low-frequency drivers. As such, the sound it produces is perfect for places where the audience is spread out far and wide. These areas are often problematic for other PA systems, but not for the Reach. Together with the EarShot personal monitoring system, the Reach's sound can cover an incredible 250 degrees!
EarShot: personal monitoring
Musicians in particular will have noticed how difficult it can be to hear themselves over others during performances. With the EarShot system, however, Mackie have solved this problem. A powerful full-range driver on either side means that musicians can hear themselves much more clearly. It's even possible to adjust the volume separately for each musician, as well as other controls. Finally, the system has a feature known as 'feedback destroyer'. This function seeks out and eliminates any frequencies that cause feedback before it happens. With 16 built-in effects and a 3 band equalizer, all controllable via an app, you will always find the sound you're looking for with the Reach.

Voor aanschaf en gebruik met instrumenten zou ik dus eerst controleren welk element je gebruikt en of er een voorversterker op zit, anders hoor je nagenoeg niets. Dit heeft te maken met de veiligheid ingebouwd door Mackie om te voorkomen dat je een te sterk signaal door de box heen laat gaan.
Ik ga mezelf nog een acoustische pre-amp aanschaffen om de gitaar goed te laten klinken.
De Mackie Reach is verder een prima apparaat voor kleinere groepen en zalen; de app voor bediening van de Reach via je telefoon werkt heel goed en de 16 extra effecten zijn leuk.
Voor de originele prijs zou ik hem nooit aangeschaft hebben, maar voor deze prijs krijg je weinig andere alternatieven die zo goed zijn. Jammer van de pre-amp die ik nog moet aanschaffen.

Makkelijke opstelling. Zware toestellen. Passen perfect als top op onze Behringers B1200D. Hebben ze ook wel nodig want wat zwakjes in het laag.
Door twee jack2jack-kabels te leggen koppel je twee Reach's aan elkaar en verdubbel je je aantal ingangen en RMS. De ene gaat uit en bij de andere in en vice versa. De hoofd-Reach neemt het aux-in signaal en stuurt het rechtersignaal daarvan door naar de rechter-Reach, samen met de summed-mono signalen en de effecten.
Via je smartphone mix je alles mooi af. Je moet wel beide Reach's apart pairen én connecten aan je smartphone (of een tweede smartphone of je tablet gebruiken om de rechter-Reach af te mixen). Sla je instellingen op voor je volgende gig.
Ondanks het feit dat de handleiding spreekt over 'het regelen van de input van de diverse signalen via de draaiknop', verander je hiermee echter enkel de output van die signalen. De enige controle over je input heb je dus via je microfoons zelf of de zender van je draadloze mic. Er is dus geen ingangscontrole, wel een ledje dat rood wordt wanneer je kanaal clipt.
Stevige kast, stevig toestel. Zwaar en sterk. Past perfect in een tas (de Mackietas kost het dubbele van een tas van Accu-case PAR 8 bag dus bestel deze laatste maar).
Veel effecten, goede app, superhandige bediening.
Zijn vijf sterren waard.

Je moet echt de App gebruiken of een mengtafel apart aan te sluiten (dan komt hij zeker tot zijn recht) om wat meer volume te krijgen rechtstreeks je mobiel of tablet is geen succes te weinig volume maar dat geld voor meer boxen/PA
