The Encoder is one of the most used/abused buttons on every CDJ unit. Important to mention:
If you don't have experience in fine electronics DO NOT! attempt to Cheng this part by yourself. The difficulty is Hardcore as you Need not only a soldering Iron. This PCB is located on the "Brain Cortex" of the CDJ and without experience you will end up damaging the LCDB Assy! That board is Highly sensitive to ESD's! and to excessive heat etc. Search Locally or Online Authorized or Experienced Electronics repair service. Better spend up to +100e (The local shop usually charges less than 60 bucks). BY "going with better safe than sorry" @ the end you will have it back next day and enjoy it another good years.
IT is much better than a fail SEKF repair attempt, that can be the end life of your CDJ :( The LCDB is Expensive and Rare to find worth to mention that on the normal CDJ-2000 this part is Discontinued.
It took me for 4h to replace this DSX Encoder on my CDJ-NXS2. With patience and attention I also cleaned the dust accumulated along the years. Not being and SMD id the biggest plus of this repair. I grounded myself and checked if I truly did't accumulate any Static energy. Changing just this part 10Minutes.
The rest of 3:50 were spend; preparing and Disassembly+Cleaning and back assembly.
Conclusion:
After soldering nice and Clean this Encoder, Now under the new "Alpha-Theta Bos"s Work's as expected. Butter Smooth scrolling and precise firm clicks:) like it was in the first day.
