General
Percussion tends to be limited in romplers (synths, keyboards) and virtual instruments. It's often pretty noticeable when the same percussion sample is used repeatedly, and apart from using 'round robin' to prevent machine-gun style repetition, there isn't much you can do about that. Until now, that is! The AAS Chromaphone 2 physical modelling software download features excellent-quality (chromatic) percussion samples, and allows you to compile your own virtual percussion instruments. To do this, you can make use of terms you'd use in the physical world of percussion, like mallet, diameter, and hit position.
New in AAS Chromaphone 2
There are various improvements in this updated version. Built-in effects have been enhanced and a compressor, limiter, and equalizer have been added. Completely new features include a drumhead resonator, an arpeggiator, a new envelope mode and resonator filters. Micro-tuning and a source filter are also new, and you can edit the noise-source spectrum using ten filter bands. It's equipped with loads of new presets, an improved interface, as well as full compatibility with Chromaphone 1 presets.
The advantages of physical modelling
Contrary to a rompler, the sounds in Chromaphone 2 are subtly different. If you hit a series of 16th notes, for instance, this program will reproduce a very realistic, human-like groove. With a rompler, especially one that isn't equipped with modern sounds, this is virtually impossible. Another advantage is the efficient use of memory; an algorithm (which is how Chromaphone 2 works) takes up a lot less space than hundreds of megabytes of samples. In short, Chromaphone 2 is a dynamic virtual instrument that sounds remarkably human!
