General
Meinl's Generation X series cymbals are guaranteed to take you on a musical adventure. Each and every cymbal from this series is a bit different than the ones we're used to. Take this Safari Ride, for instance, which was developed in collaboration with Johnny Rabb. It is really more of an effects cymbal than a ride and it has an interesting build - it's a flat, 18-inch ride combined with an 8-inch splash with a waved edge.

The resulting sound is quite interesting and very pleasing. Thanks to the contact between the two cymbals, the Safari Ride has a very short decay and lacks that loud core tone. What's left is a clear 'white-noise' effect, that goes exceptionally well with breakbeats and quasi-electronic styles of music. By tightening and loosening the wing bolt of your cymbal stand, you can further adjust the sustain and sound of this Safari Ride.
