General
The Extra Dry models from Meinl's professional Byzance series have a pretty striking look to them. The surface of these cymbals features a large number of hammer marks, the result of the production process used to create the Extra Dry Medium Ride in the Meinl facilities in Turkey. The B20EDMR is further left raw and untreated, making it look like it spent some time in a rainy alleyway. But nothing could be further from the truth. This 20-inch cymbal was hand-crafted and finished this way to achieve the desired sound.
Meinl Byzance B20EDMR
This medium ride cymbal has an extremely musical, warm sound and a great, direct stick response that gives you a lot of feedback. Compared to cymbals that are heavily polished and lathed, the B20EDMR sound far less shrill. Instead, it is a cymbal with excellent dynamics that sounds reminiscent of cymbals used in recordings in the 60s, but with a nice raw edge to it and limited sustain. This professional Byzance ride offers a very distinct sound that allows you to personalise your setup like never before.
