The Sabian AA Apollo Crash 18 is part of the Big & Ugly Series and, while this cymbal isn't exactly gigantic, we can't help but agree with the ugly bit. It looks like it's been dug up somewhere behind the Sabian factory and sounds fatter than its medium-thin weight would have you think. The sound has a nice, dark edge and is short and balanced, giving the crash a remarkably flexible nature. And this cymbal may be called the AA Apollo Crash, but it also effortlessly doubles as a ride, with the bell sounding compact, loud and defined, and the surface providing more dry and clear attack.
