General
The average set of cymbals is fairly straightforward. It needs a crash, a ride and maybe even a little splash, and that's about it. That does not have to be the case, however! Within their Byzance series, Meinl has countless interesting cymbals with unique finishes. Take this 20-inch B20EDCH china, for instance, with and extra dry finish. It certainly looks different, but it has a very distinct sound, too!
Meinl Byzance B20EDCH
Where most chinas receive traditional lathing, giving them a bright sound, the B20EDCH looks as if it's rusty and the craftsmen at Meinl have been a bit too gung-ho with their hammers. That could not be further from the truth, however, this is simply a china whose voice has dropped. It still sounds plenty aggressive, but the overall sound is even trashier and dirtier, while it encompasses a wide range of frequencies and its sustain has been cut short. Add a very distinct voice to the sound of your drum kit with this extra dry china!
