The Dark Sun is the result of a collaboration between Seymour Duncan and Mark Holcomb. As a member of Periphery, Holcomb is all too familiar with alternating aggressive and technical styles with more atmospheric and ambient parts in which both delay and reverb play an important role. It's the reason why Seymour Duncan set high standards when designing this 2-in-1 effects pedal and the result is a stylish stompbox with tons of possibilities to meet all of Holcomb's demands.

Andromeda Delay + Silver Lake Reverb = Dark Sun

The Dark Sun offers a mix between the Seymour Duncan Andromeda and the Silver Lake. For the development, Holcomb picked out his favourite sounds and settings, so you can count on warm, crystal-clear digital delay and rich hall reverb. What's more, both effects can be used in any configuration and the Dark Sun even has EQ, modulation and dynamic expression on board.

Change Up the Order

One of Mark's most important wishes is the option to quickly change up the order of two effects and assign them to either the left or the right channel. Reason enough for Seymour Duncan to fit a rotary knob with four different routing options that can be used to drastically change the sound character. If the delay comes first in the chain, then the reverb effect is repeated, while putting the reverb in the first place creates a dramatic trail effect. Also, both effects can be used in stereo or as two individual effects pedals in one.

Extensive Control

The Dynamic Expression function serves only one significant goal in the Dark Sun and gives you control over the mix of the effect while you're playing. Strum firmly with a pick and the effect will be moved to the background but play soft, sustained notes and the mix level goes up so you can enjoy a mesmerising trail of fully-present reverb. In addition, you're also getting a comprehensive range of filters, gain, and modulation controls to fully customise the sound character of the effect.

Accurate Delay

The Seymour Duncan Dark Sun offers four different tap options: quarter notes, dotted eighths, eighths and triplets. The tempo can be set via the tap footswitch, time control or MIDI and displayed in either milliseconds or beats per minute. Thanks to MIDI connections, the Dark Sun is easily integrated into any complex live rig and there's a handy micro-USB port for firmware updates and preset options.
