Boss DD-500 Digital Delay
The Boss DD500 can be as complicated or as simple as you want.
It features an incredible range if stunning delays in 96khz reproduction.
The unit is superbly strong and reliable requiring only 200ma of (not necessarily isolated) current draw.
You can customise the switch functions. For instance I have mins globally set to provide 3 presets per bank. Each delay has the option of delay crossover (which I highly recommend) basically if you want to add a splash of Terra Echo madness in a solo but quickly switch back to a generic digital delay sound it us seamless.
The looper is class! Really easy and fun to use.
Maximum of 297 presets!!! That's ridiculous.
You can actually limit the amount if banks... why? Well if you only need 50 different delay sounds why have all the other banks?
You can control EVERYTHING!!
So the big taboo - dud they rip off Strymon....?
Well yes and no.
For decades Boss / Roland have lead the way in effects pedals. They invented digital delay (DM2) They invented midi and they invented the design of a stombox that we all recognise today (small box with a switch and LED indicator).
They have been ripped off left right and centre by every company under the sun pretty much both aesthetically and sonically.
...so basically they've thought... Strymon have a nice layout...lets do our flagship delay like theirs.
Only difference is Boss have made it better... the switches are on a slight angle making access better.
The screen is much bigger and clearer.
The colour us even nicer.
All in all this pedal is professional live and studio quality. It is not a cheap version of the Strymon it us a genuine alternative and actually an alternative if highly recommend .
