The Electro Harmonix Slammi is a unique and versatile pitch shifter. It is part of the Next Step series, a line of pedals characterised by a complete lack of moving parts. All you need to do for accurate control over the pitch shift effect is rock the sensitive pedal back and forth - a construction that ensures a long life for the pedal, as there are no parts that can break. Use the separately available Cradle if you want to add the Slammi to your pedalboard.

Tone bending of up to 3 octaves with the Slammi

The Electro Harmonix Slammi boasts a number of highly attractive features. An 11-way Max Bend switch on the side of the pitch pedal allows you to set the maximum pitch you want the Slammi to reach when pushed to its limits. You have a choice of various intervals, including an octave, a half tone and a full tone, with a maximum of three octaves. The bend button determines whether the tone goes either up or down.

Creating harmonies

The dry volume control significantly influences your overall sound, as it allows you to mix the effect with your dry signal (your regular guitar sound). Turn the dry signal all the way down, and you can create subtle tone bends and dive bombs such as a Floyd Rose tremolo bridge would produce. It's also possible to play an entire song at a lower key without changing chords. Mix the effect with the dry signal, however, and gorgeous harmonies are also part of the possibilities.

Electro Harmonix Slammi pitch shifter

De Slammi is te gebruiken als een polyfone (meerstemmige, dus ook akkoorden) whammy of als detune pedaal. Ik gebruik de Slammi o.a. om bas lijntjes met mijn gitaar in te spelen. De pitch bend range waarbij akkoorden natuurlijk blijven klinken is groter dan bij de Digitech Whammy die ik hiervoor had. Het pedaal reageerd direct op je spel, geen latency. Andere voordelen: kraakvrij helder geluid, makkelijk instelbaar.
Minder tevreden over: ik moet het pedaal relatief veel her-ijken (calibrate), terwijl mijn vloer gewoon recht is. Daarnaast vind ik het anti slip materiaal op de bodemplaat onvoldoende stroef om het pedaal op mijn parket vloer op zijn plek te houden. Overall een aanrader!
