General
Just like an 8-cylinder V-type motorengine, the VOX V8 Distortion delivers a powerful, formidable sound. This high-gain distortion pedal from the Tone Garage series is equipped with a real 12AX7 tube, resulting in extra warmth for the fully analogue distortion signal, as well as richer dynamics. VOX developed their Hi-Volt technology especially for this series. Hi-Volt technology means that the tube can work at 200 volts, even when being powered by batteries. Despite the large reserve gain, the VOX V8 Distortion keeps your guitar's original sound perfectly intact.
VOX V8 Distortion: versatile mid-shift function
Formidable is the best word to describe the VOX V8 Distortion. Besides creating some seriously heavy-duty distortion, you can also create excellent lead sounds with this stompbox. You'll find a mid-shift switch on this pedal, which allows you to shift the mid-range peaks. If you activate the switch, the mids are emphasized for a creamier sound and solos that cut perfectly through the mix. When the switch is deactivated, you get a scooped sound with a clear attack, which is ideal for tight riffs.
True bypass pedal with versatile gain
An interesting feature of the gain control is that it not only affects the intensity, but it's also designed to subtly change the timbre. From zero to maximum, this knob delivers a wide scale of natural overdrive sounds. Furthermore, the V8 Distortion is a true-bypass pedal, which means that your guitar's original sound is completely unaffected when the pedal is off. Finally, the pedal can be powered by six AA batteries (for use to 7 hours) or via an optional DC 9V adapter.
