Since the dawn of USA-based pedal-gurus, TrueTone (formerly Visual Sound), the Route 66 has been their flagship model. Thanks to a sophisticated blend of TS-style overdrive and classic compression, the original 66 quickly became a legend of the guitar-verse. In the V3, you're looking at a completely reworked design, so you still get the same level of quality when it comes to both the overdrive and the compression, but you also get a fistful of tasty extras on the side.

The TrueTone Route 66 V3: What's New?

In response to user suggestions, TrueTone has reverted back to traditional footswiches - which can be set up in true-bypass of buffered-bypass mode as preferred. Internally, the Route 66 V3 is essentially two separate pedals and now, you can even re-route the signal path to send it through the compressor via the overdrive. But, when it comes to the fresh features, that's really just the beginning.

Extra Control

One of the things that made the OG Route 66 so loved was the bass-boost function of the overdrive circuit. With the third edition, this has been further refined and can now be smoothly adjusted rather than just switched on and off. Both channels have a dedicated Mix pot to you're able to blend the dry-and-wet mix to taste and, while you used to have to activate the noise gate via an internal dip-switch, you now get an On/Off gate slide-switch mounted on the main control panel, making it far easier to shift up into more extreme settings. Basically, in the tight form of the Route 66 V3, you're getting all of the flavour of the all-powerful first-gen model, plus plenty more.
