Since the Special Cranker from Earthquaker Devices is built with the Speaker Cranker as its base, this distortion effects pedal serves up silicone-style as well as Germanium-generated sounds. Simply toggle the Ge/Si diode selector switch to activate your favourite circuit before upping the distortion without adding any unwanted colouring and enjoy fully detailed, dynamic tone. Finished with a bypass switch and level & tone pots, the EarthQuaker Devices Special Cranker allows you to easily match the volume of the effect with the volume of your bypass signal and then dial in the specifics.

Fantastisch overdrive pedaal. Gisteren aangeschaft en gans de dag ermee geëxperimenteerd. Wat een klank! Gebruik ik in combinatie met Les Paul en verschillende versterkers. Met de knoppen op het pedaal kan je alle richtingen uit en het pedaal reageert ook heel goed op volume en toonknoppen op de gitaar. De knoppen op het pedaal zijn ook gemakkelijk om "on the fly" aanpassingen te doen, in een live situatie. Het hangt er natuurlijk vanaf welk genre je speelt, wat je er precies mee wil doen, maar dit pedaal moet je zeker uitproberen als je een nieuw OD pedaal zoekt.

Wat een fijne distortion is dit zeg, zoveel mogelijkheden (zeker icm mijn Quilter versterker met zowel marshallesq als fenderachtige instellingen). De clipping diode optie (ge of si) is echt heel goed bruikbaar, de manier waarop het geluid opschoont met je gitaar volumeknop of dynamiek waarmee je aanslaat, de individuele snaren, alles is goed hoorbaar, niets wordt modderig al wordt geluid beter naarmate de echte speaker iets meer wordt aangedreven. Toon knop doet ook goed z'n werk, heel nuttige toevoeging op het orginele design waarop deze pedaal doorontwikkeld is. Heel veel waar voor je geld, goede (geruisloze) EQD switch, stevige behuizing. En nee, het is geen metal distortion, maar t/m jaren 80 hardrock/alternative zou geen probleem moeten zijn, vanaf lichte boost/crunch (beetje afhankelijk van je pickups en volume instelling). Met dit pedaal standaard in mijn tas kan ik best wel eens mijn overige pedalen thuislaten.
