General
This VOX Flat 4 Boost is a 12AX7 tube-powered booster pedal from the Tone Garage series that you can use as a mid boost, treble boost, or even for creating distortion. This stompbox makes full use of VOX's newly designed Hi-Volt technology, which allows the tube to work at 200 V, even when powered by batteries. That means that you don't just get the warm tone one would expect from a vacuum tube, but also the dynamics. The Flat 4 Boost is also equipped with a slow-start circuit, which works to generously extend the lifespan of the tube.
VOX Flat 4 Boost: a full-range booster
In contrast with traditional boost pedals, this pedal has a Baxandall EQ on board. As such, you can boost and filter both the bass and treble levels without them influencing one another. The pedal also features a mid-boost function that compresses the mids, creating a sound that is ideal for solos. If you'd like, you can also use the VOX Flat 4 Boost as a distortion pedal by cranking up the low, high, and gain.
True bypass pedal with versatile gain
An interesting feature of the gain control is that it not only affects the intensity, but it's also designed to subtly change the timbre. From zero to maximum, this knob delivers a wide scale of natural overdrive sounds. Furthermore, the V4 Distortion is a true-bypass pedal, which means that your guitar's original sound is completely unaffected when the pedal is off. Finally, the pedal can be powered by six AA batteries (for use to 7 hours) or via an optional DC 9V adapter.
