If you lack the budget and you're not a pyrotechnics expert, you'll have to be creative. If you want to create a fire effect, Eurolite's Flame Light is a great alternative. Its 59-inch high flame is kept in the air by means of a fan while 54 LEDs light the flame and create a warm atmosphere.
Burn, baby burn with the Flame Light
Because the LEDs are distributed properly, they light the fake flame evenly, creating a flame that looks highly realistic. The powerful fan makes the flame dance, just like a real flame. The unit comes in an appealing plastic housing that can be placed discretely out of view; it looks rather innocent, but wait until you switch it on!
The Flame Light features an on/off switch and an IEC power connector on the side. As a power cable is included, you can connect the Flame Light to a switch pack and switch it on with just the press of a button. You'll have fire in mere seconds!

Mijn voorkeur ging uit naar de dmx versie van Showtec. Aangezien de kleuren niet in segmenten aan te passen waren had dit m.i. echter geen meerwaarde.
De afbeeldingen en omschrijvingen op verschillende websites en zelfs bij de leverancier zijn nogal divers en komen nauwelijks met elkaar overeen. De silkflame die het meest realistisch overkwam was die van Eurolite, die in mijn geval (!) aan zowel voor- als achterkant voorzien is van 3 blauwe leds in het midden, 2x3 rode leds aan weerszijden daarvan en voor de rest (ik gok zo'n 10) oranje leds. De richting waarin de leds gemonteerd zijn varieert per kleur.
De paarse punten waar mijn mede-reviewer het over heeft zijn inderdaad jammer, maar door de 3 blauwe leds aan één kant af te plakken met een stukje tape, is dat zo goed als verholpen. Het puntje wappert dan namelijk telkens in-en-uit het bereik van de blauwe leds.
Pro's:
- meest realisch merk/type
- zeer decoratief effect
- licht in gewicht
- momenteel de goedkoopste van de verschillende opties
Contra's
- geen dmx
- geen mogelijkheid om het licht afzonderlijk van de ventilator in/uit te schakelen
- ietsiepietsie paars puntje, maar nagenoeg te verhelpen met tape'je
- niet kloppende foto's en omschrijvingen kunnen verwarrend zijn
