Heritage Audio 1073/500 Preamp and Equalizer

Those in the know will realise exactly what the numbers '1073' and '500' say about what this Heritage Audio 1073/500 is capable of. Faithfully built according the Neve's original design, this jewel of a preamp/EQ fits in a 500 Series Rack. To be able to fit all of the original components of the 80 Series mixer, Heritage Audio have gone with a 3U form factor.

The 1073: Preamp

This 1073 preamp boasts a class A design with a colossal, 80 dB gain to accommodate low output microphones such as passive ribbon models. Of course, there's nothing stopping you from plugging in a condenser microphone since the 1073/500 module supplies any microphone that needs it with stable 48V phantom power.

The 1073: Equaliser

What you'll also find in the 1073/500 is a 3-band EQ with a high-pass filter. Just as in the original, the high shelf is locked at 12 kHz and has a Baxandall curve, meaning that it keeps gradually running up to somewhere far outside the audible spectrum for an extremely natural sound. Using the double-concentric knobs, the low shelf can be set to 35, 60, 110 or 220 Hz and it goes without saying that Heritage Audio haven't forgotten to include the famous 1073 mid band.
