The Shure MX392 and MX393 boundary microphones are generally known as 'smart', since they offer a high functionality that includes LED indicators and a silent on/off switch that deactivates the whole diaphragm. They also each come with a conveniently integrated preamp so they can be used immediately and without the need for adjustment beyond placement. The MicroFlex range of boundary microphones are also incredibly adaptable and can be used in virtually any kind of meeting space where multiple voices need to be registered with clarity. They're also incredibly easy to use and come fitted with a single switch that can be set to three modes: Push to Talk, Push to Mute, and Push-On/Push-Off.

This Shure-developed range of microphones has been made available in various shapes and sizes and come fitted with various microphone capsules and therefore pickup patterns. The MX392 and MX393 are available with cardioid, supercardioid, and omni-directional pickup patterns, so that you're able to select the optimum tool for a specific job. To limit feedback as much as possible, the cardioid or supercardioid versions are recommended. While, if everything in the room needs to be registered and recorded, then the omnidirectional version is recommended. Another bonus is that, if you go for the cardioid version and find that the situation sometimes demands an omnidirectional recording pattern, the microphone capsules can be bought separately and easily removed and replaced, making both the MX392 and MX393 models thoughtfully flexible.
