Mackie present the OnyxGO Mic: a super-compact wireless microphone system that operates on the basis of Bluetooth. This portable bit of kit is great for content creation, phone call recording and more. The free OnyxGO partner app puts various essential audio tools such as EQ controls, noise reduction, and video-and-audio-recording functions directly at your fingertips. In addition to a built-in microphone, the OnyxGO Mic features an integrated headphone jack and this nifty little wireless system even comes complete with a set of CR-Buds so you can immediately hear what's being said on the other end of the line.

If you have a iPhone 14 and the latest iOS: Don’t buy if you expect to record using the Mackie App and especially record phone calls. I’ve tested it on 3 separate iPhones. On two using current iOS the application has extensive interference and clicking. On earlier iOS it records clear. The device itself is not at fault as it records via Bluetooth on other software on iOS 16. It appears to be the app which has not been updated in a year. I wrote to Mackie - will not answer outside US and Canada and to Bax - no reply from last week. It will have to be returned unfortunately.

I purchased this unit JUL22.
My advice? Do not buy this unit and do not trust Mackie to update.
The unit and software app will work on iOS 15.7 but not on iOS 16. Despite repeated attempts to contact Mackie US for information regarding updates on their app for compliance with iOS 16, they have constantly passed the liability to Polar UK. Polar are nice guys but are totally reliant on resolution from Mackie and Sabinetek. Because Mackie and others have wasted so much of my time, I am now in the process of opening up a political 'can of worms' for all manufacturers like Mackie through government instruments like the BEIS, relevant Select Committees and key MPs to create and introduce legislation prevent manufacturers from leaving consumers high and dry when something goes wrong. Watch this space.
Not all customers are alike.
Bax, although I do not blame you for associated issues, I would urge caution in selling hardware units like the Onyx Go that are dependent upon software apps and firmware updates that are reliant on diligent manufacturers and/or third party OS unless you accompany the sale with 1. Assurances accompanied by a clear warning re. realistic longevity of manufacturer software support and 2. Informational updates for your customers.
Forewarned is forearmed. Legislation is on its way.
