Pickup pattern

Shure's Beta 87 A has a super-cardioid pickup pattern, which results in little to no background noise or feedback. A low-frequency roll-off reduces the proximity effect, which is caused when one sings into the microphone from a short distance, making this the perfect mic for every situation, whether you're performing live on stage or in the studio.

Beta 87C or 87A?

The difference between the Beta 87A and the 87C is their pickup pattern: the Beta 87A has a super-cardioid pickup pattern, whereas the 87C has a cardioid pattern. Therefore, the 87A is even less prone to feedback. You do need some on-stage singing experience, however, as you need to sing straight into the microphone. The 87C does not require such expertise, but it is a little more sensitive to feedback.
