General
Due to the endlessly restless evolution of computer technology, the cables used to send signal to your desktop can very suddenly become outdated, making latency an ongoing battle. The German company, RME knows this and delivers stable and professional audio solutions with the very latest technology and lowest latency. The RME MADIface XT was the first USB 3.0 audio interface in the world and is also the smallest portable system that manages to pack literally hundreds of audio channels. In addition to USB 3.0, this interface can be connected via a PCI express port, so that the RME MADIface XT also works with the PCI ecpress cards from RME and Thunderbolt adapters. A USB 2.0. is also included, however due to bandwidth limitation, the number of available audio channels drops to 70 when this port is used.
MADIface XT: Inputs and Outputs and Inputs and Outputs ... rinse and repeat
The mini MADIface XT manages to pack 196 input and 198 output channels. 3 MADI I / Os (2x optical and 1x coaxial), AES / EBU I / O, two analogue inputs and four analogue outputs ensure this. The two analogue inputs are supported with a digitally controlled high-end microphone / line preamp. The four analogue outputs include two balanced XLR outputs and a separately adjustable headphone output. You'll also find Wordclock I / O and MIDI I / O.
Low Latency and Expanded Monitor Options
To monitor the high number of signals that the RME MADIface XT can take, the TotalMix FX, a powerful digital mixing console application, gives you a clear overview of each audio channel. Effects can also be added to monitor mixes so that the vocalist gets a nicely compressed, reverberated monitor mix in their ears while you record the dry signal. Since the rendering happens on the hardware of the soundcard directly, there's no trace of latency.
