General
With the Studio 192, Presonus has issued a high-grade USB 3.0 audio interface that was primarily designed to form the beating heart of your studio. In addition to eight microphone preamplifiers - the familiar XMAX preamps - and ten different outputs, it features two ADAT inputs and outputs, so you're able to add an extra sixteen channels to your setup. S/PDIF ports and an on-board DSP mixer with EQ and more are also at your disposal so, in short, you'll have plenty of mixing potential to work with!
The Presonus Studio 192: An Ambitious Audio Interface
Presonus has clearly put a great deal of thought into the design of the Studio 192 - a single glance at its front panel tells you that much. On the right, you'll find two headphone outputs, each with its own volume control, and all microphone inputs have their own XLR/jack combo socket, so you won't have to bother with adapters. Clear LED metering gives you an overview of the various input levels, and a large volume knob puts you in full control of the volume. The built-in microphone talk-back feature is great to communicate with artists and bands during recording sessions and the Studio 19 even features its own monitor switcher! The digitally-controlled preamps can be told what to do from an iPad or Android device via UC Surface, which gives drummers the chance to check their levels right before the tape starts rolling.
