Mackie surprised the world with their Mackie Onyx Artist 1x2 USB audio interface! It's a worthy competitor with excellent converters, good signal quality and great software. Plus, it's built like a tank! Connect this compact device to a computer via USB and plug a microphone into the XLR input and/or an instrument into the TRS input. It's ideal if you like to record layer for layer in your DAW. Larger interfaces with multiple inputs are more suitable for large-scale projects like bands or close-miking drum kits.

Just because this is an entry-level model, it offers as much quality as its larger counterparts, if not more! It boasts an audio signal quality of 24 bits, 192 kHz, and a good Onyx microphone preamp. You can use both dynamic and condenser microphones, as +48V phantom power is available for the latter. The device itself is well-built and powered via USB. Its compact size makes it a great interface for mobile producers.
