General
Gretsch's Country Gentleman was designed in collaboration with renowned guitarist Chet Atkins, and could often be found in the hands of the Beatles' legendary guitar player George Harrison. This particular Country Gentleman, the Gretsch G6122T, was fashioned almost exclusively from maple, expect for its fretboard. The top of this Players Edition guitar with Walnut Stain finish is made of classic, 3-ply laminated maple, and features two stylish f-holes. To add some tasteful vibrato to your leads and chords, the G6122T Country Gentleman is equipped with a Bigsby B6GP tremolo tailpiece.
G6122T Country Gentleman: finish, tone controls and humbuckers
Combining a lush Walnut Stain finish, gold-plated hardware and various high-grade components, the G6122T is an exceptional guitar. The gold plexi pickguard of this electric hollow-body instrument is adorned with a stylish black Gretsch logo. Like the semi-hollow guitars from the late '50s, this Gretsch features elaborate tone controls, including three volume knobs (neck pickup, bridge pickup and master volume), a three-way pickup switch and a practical three-way master tone switch. For that characteristic Gretsch sound, you get two Filter'Tron humbuckers. Warmer and more powerful than single-coil pickups, and more clear than regular humbuckers, they're capable of a decent bite when necessary.
Gretsch Players Editions
In 2016, Gretsch introduced two new series that both cater to a specific group of guitarists. The Golden Era Edition series was developed for true purists, while more pragmatic players will prefer the Players Edition models. The Players Edition guitars pay homage to the Gretsch glory days, but incorporate a number of modern modifications into their design. They have a slimmer body, for instance, made possible by Gretsch's innovative 'ML' bracing. This new type of reinforcement ensures that the instruments retain their full hollow-body sound, despite their decreased thickness. Other comfortable new features include an enhanced string-through Bigsby.
