General

For the first time ever, Squier offers an affordable version of the classic Fender Mustang guitar. The Vintage Modified Mustang is designed to look as much like the original as possible, from its distinctive 24-inch short scale string length and the special, small asymmetrical body to the double single-coils, special pickup circuit and Dynamic Vibrato tailpiece. The Squier Vintage Modified Mustang is a true classic and, on top of that, has been given several modern modifications. These include two full-sounding Duncan Designed pickups and a relatively flat 9.5-inch fretboard radius for more playing comfort. This new Squier model is available in three authentic colours: Vintage White, Sonic Blue and Fiesta Red.

Squier vintage Modified Mustang: vintage-accurate details

Thanks to its small body and short neck, the Mustang is the ideal instrument for small-handed guitarists. Additionally, its tight, clear sound is perfect for various types of music, most notably surf rock. For this type of music, the unique tailpiece with integrated tremolo is a thankful feature, as it allows you to create those distinctive vibrato effects. Vintage-wise, this Vintage Modified Mustang will suit you just right, as it has a beautifully finished neck with a high-gloss lacquer and light-brown position markers for that vintage 'clay dot' look. To complete the vintage picture, it features a seam between pickguard and body, chromed control plate, and the machine heads have been fitted with white peg heads.

Unique pickup configuration with phase out option

Compared to most traditional guitars, switching between the two pickups is a little different on the Mustang Each pickup is provided with its own three-position slide switch. In middle position, the pickup is switched off and in the other two positions it's on. Were you to turn the bridge pickup's switch off and the other one on, you'll use only the neck pickup and vice-versa. Flick both switches in the same direction to use both pickups simultaneously. With the switches in opposite direction, the pickups are out of phase and produce a thinner yet very usable sound. Additionally, a master volume and tone control are at your disposal to fine tune your sound.

Ever since Fender introduced their first electric guitar in the fifties, many competing manufacturers have produced cheap imitations of varying quality. To offer the same reliability, sound and playability of the original at a reasonable price, Fender started a subsidiary in 1982: Squier (not to be confused with the Fender Esquire!).
