General
Jackson has been a synonym for metal guitars since the eighties. Nowadays, they still provide many guitarists with the perfect instrument for the rough stuff. Although this new generation of guitar players has a different wish-list, Jackson managed to stay up to date. As such, Jackson deliver custom models to Misha Mansoor of the progressive metal band Periphery. These models are based on Jackson's famous Dinky models, but have been adjusted to the wishes of this demanding guitarist. His Jackson signature models are custom built. It's clear that this extraordinary guitar has received a lot of love and attention.
Construction
The basswood body of this Juggernaut HT6 in Silverburst Sparkle is based on a traditional Jackson Dinky. However, when you look closely, you'll see that the cutaways are deeper for a better access to the highest frets. Like with most luxurious Jacksons, the neck has been reinforced with graphite and the truss rod is easy to reach thanks to a thumb wheel at the neck. The maple neck is fitted with an ebony fretboard that has a radius of 20 inches, perfect for playing complicated riffs. Two Bareknuckle Juggernaut humbuckers deliver an incredible amount of power. The combination of Hipshot locking tuners and the reversed AT1 headstock, guarantee a stable guitar with great tuning stability.
Misha Mansoor
As the founder of progressive metal band Periphery, Misha Mansoor is often considered the forerunner of Djent music. His style is characterised by high gain, heavy palm-muted chords in combination with complex polyrhythmics and virtuoso solos. Mansoor also works as a producer and songwriter - he co-wrote the debut album of another Djent sensation Animals As Leaders. All Periphery material has been produced by him. 2015 marks the bands ten-year anniversary, looking back on one of the most innovative metal albums of the decade.
