General
The electric guitar will never stop evolving, and it seems like manufacturers will never stop trying to add more strings! The Ibanez RG9QM in Black Ice is a 9-string guitar with a gorgeous top made of quilted maple. Thanks to its Gibraltar Standard II-9 bridge, 5-piece neck an Graph Tech string nut, it provides remarkable tuning stability. With Cosmo Black hardware that contrasts nicely with the transparent black lacquer, this RG9QM looks absolutely stunning. Sound-wise, it's also got you covered, as two powerful Quantum humbuckers provide a focused, rich sound that is perfect for heavier styles of music.
RG9QM Black Ice: solid construction
The RG9QM features a basswood body with a bolted-on 5-piece neck made of maple and bubinga. Not only does this neck construction look great, it also provides the necessary durability needed to handle the added tension of the 3 additional strings. It has a 28" scale length, which means even the lowest possible notes will be clean and well-defined. What's more, thanks to the Wizard-9 profile, the wide neck is still remarkably easy and comfortable to play.
Room to experiment
People often mock the idea of a 9-string guitar, but Ibanez set out to prove them wrong. Nine strings offer an incredibly wide tonal palette, adding low B, F# and C# strings to the standard 6 strings. That makes the Ibanez RG9QM perfect for heavier styles of music, like djent. Of course, you could also decide to add a high A string instead, for instance. In short, with 9 strings at your disposal, the options are virtually endless - therein lies the true strength of a 9-string guitar. Experiment away!
