General
Most people won't immediately recognise the name Paul Waggoner. We wonder why, though, because as lead guitarist for American progressive metal band Between the Buried and Me, he's played on many stages all over the world. In collaboration with Ibanez, he has developed his own signature guitar, the PWM10. It's the more affordable counterpart to the PWM100, offering the same look and sound. Even if you're not a big fan of BTBAM, this guitar still has plenty to offer thanks to its versatile sound and its exquisitely classy transparent black finish.
PWM10: versatile
The Ibanez PWM10 features Paul Waggoner's Signature pickups. These Mojotone PW Hornet pickups are specially designed for producing a wide range of progressive sounds. From warm yet crystal-clear cleans to powerful chords, they do it all without ever sounding too brash or muddy. Furthermore, the PWM10 features a coil tap switch for even more tonal variety. In short, it's a well-balanced guitar with two high-output humbuckers that can handle anything you can throw at them.
Ash body
Another interesting detail about the Ibanez PWM10 is its ash body. This wood type allows for excellent resonance and emphasises the character of each individual string. Furthermore, it has a unique wood grain that means each model is slightly different. At 44 mm thick, its S-series body is quite a bit thicker than usual, which benefits the instrument's overall sound and ensures it feels as sturdy as it looks.
