Honouring one of the most long-running gaming franchises on the planet, the very limited edition Fender Final Fantasy XIV Stratocaster is not only the result of a close collab between Fender and Square Enix, but a celebration of 75 years of Fender. In this meeting of giants, this high-grade Strat bears design-details lifted straight out of the Final Fantasy universe, where the black-coated alder body is enhanced by blue and purple bursts of the 'Crystals of Darkness and Light', and a meteor-symbol inlay marks the twelfth fret of the rosewood fretboard. Flip the body over and you'll find the Final Fantasy XIV logo engraved on the neck-plate. This deluxe collector's item comes complete with a vintage-style, hardshell case finished with both a Fender and FFXIV logo, a custom book with a numbered certificate, and a custom FFXIV illustration card courtesy of Square Enix.

The Final Fantasy XIV Stratocaster: Limit Break

The FFXIV Stratocaster has been mounted with a set of Tim Shaw designed V-Mod Single-Coil Strat pickups - the very same pickups used to finish the Fender American Professional Series. As such, you're assured of ultra-modern, transparent output, and by popping the push/push tone pot, the bridge and neck pickups are combined to release a fattened up, humbucker-style sound: an emulation of the Final Fantasy battle move, 'Limit Break', that can be deployed to deliver the final blow and defeat a powerful end boss. It's also a sweet custom feature that amounts to way more tonal agility than just any standard, pedestrian Strat. In terms of playability, you're getting the full Fender treatment, including a Modern C-profile neck for a comfy, smooth feel, and 21 narrow-tall frets for a lighter touch.

Including a FFXIV Patch 5.55

From the 25th of May, 2021, the Final Fantasy XIV Stratocaster will be added as a new 'electric guitar' option in the in-game Performance System. With the help of this truly unique upgrade, players can access an extreme range of sounds, from clean to solid distortion. Next to that, special playing techniques will be unlocked, including pick slides and palm-muting, and the Aetherolectric Guitar becomes available in the Gold Saucer Arcade, so that fans can view every detail of the Strat and add it to their home decor. Owning this guitar also assigns your character the in-game career as 'The Bard'. By bringing one legend into the world of another, Fender and Square Enix have achieved the unbelievable and then offered it up to collectors, musicians, and gamers alike.
